Terms of the "Printing Rights" License

"Print" refers to the hard, physical form of an image. This license grants you the right to make prints, canvases, t-shirts, etc (whether purchased from this website or printed on your own.). Printing rights are subject to the terms of the "Personal Use License" stated above.  *As a service to photography clients, I offer this license for those who wish to have an image printed on their own. A per-image licensing fee will be required to release a high-resolution, printable copy of the image. Printing licenses are not the same as "Digital Downloads," which are not a high enough resolution for printing. You must contact me via email with the file numbers for the images that you wish to license for any images that come with your session, otherwise, this license can be purchased in the gallery. This license is intended for clients who have had a photography session with me and would like to purchase prints of their photos. This license does NOT include any printing of images for Commercial purposes, or printing of images that were NOT taken in a session that you purchased.

Terms of "Social Media Rights" (Personal)

People acting in a personal capacity are welcome to share my photographs on blogs, web pages, and social media accounts (such as Facebook and Instagram) without prior permission, provided that all images are accompanied with a credit link to the Photographer or Photographer's website. Social Media Rights are subject to the terms of the "Personal Use License" stated above. Failure to attribute an image properly may result in a take-down notice to the web host

Terms of the Commercial Use License

Images may be licensed for commercial use via the links below each image in the galleries. Select the "Downloads" tab to view various size and pricing options. If you are ordering multiple images, or would like a rights-managed contract, I offer discounts. I also offer discounts to my web design clients (current or past) who need images for their websites. Email me (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with the details of your project. Examples of commercial use include: company web pages, product labels, books, merchandise, magazines, most apps, brochures, business cards, company portraits and educational products. If you are interested in an image that does not have links, I am either unauthorized to resale the image or unwilling to allow the commercial use of the image. Please contact me with the details, as it may be an oversight during an upload.

License fees vary depending on the use, but generally fall between $100 and $400 per image. License arrangements for less than $400 must use the automated online system (all others will be invoiced).

I also offer web graphics/logo design for business/websites. Please email me for quotes.

Terms of the "Digital Downloads"

Digital downloads can be purchased in client galleries. All downloadable images will come with a Personal Use License (see above). Images will be in "Low-Res" (low resolution) format and will not contain any watermarks. These images are suitable for online use only and can NOT be printed. If you wish to obtain images suitable for printing, please see the terms under "Printing Rights" above.

Non-Profit Use

Registered non-profit organizations may be able to license my work at discounted rates, or free of charge, depending on the context of use. Contact me for an estimate; prior permission is required.

Classroom Use

Educational classroom use by students, teachers, and researchers is free of license fees, strongly encouraged, and does not require prior permission as long as the use does not involve uploading images to the internet. If the project involves posting my photographs to the internet, prior permission is required and images must be accompanied by a visible photo credit and a link back to Citing sources is good academics, after all!

I do not allow my work to be used in projects involving uploads to sites that apply a blanket Creative Commons license. This means my photographs cannot be used on Wikipedia, Wikispaces, and other similar sites.

Conference Presentations

Participants of academic conferences are welcome to use my photographs in presentations and posters without prior permission. I require images to be accompanied by a credit. Presentations for business purposes require the purchase of a Commercial License.

Journal Articles/Technical Papers

Use of my photographs in the scientific literature is considered commercial use and requires a paid licensing agreement.

Press Releases/Newspapers

I do not allow my images to be used in press releases without a full rights-transfer. Transfers can be purchased for a limited selection of unpublished photographs, starting at $500/image.

Social Media - Commercial

Use of my photographs in social media (Facebook, blogs, Twitter, Instagram etc.) by commercial entities is the same as "Commercial Use" (above) and requires a licensing agreement.

Derivative Artworks

Prior permission is required to copy all or parts of my photographs in derivative artworks. Some adaptations I may consider to be Fair Use, others will require a formal licensing agreement. The only way to be sure is to ask.

Copyright Infringement Policy

(see also "Copyright Statement" link for further information not listed below)

Unfortunately, I contend with copyright infringements every year. I have implemented the following policy in an attempt to maintain control over my work.

Unauthorized non-commercial uses of my copyrighted images and text are subject to DMCA take-down requests without advance notice.

Unauthorized commercial infringements of my copyrighted images will be handled by a contracted copyright enforcement organization, which may result in legal action to recover statutory damages as outlined in Title 17, § 504, of the United States copyright laws.

Unauthorized uploads of my photographs to YouTube may be met with DMCA take-down notices. I will retract a Youtube DMCA claim on the purchase of a 1 mpx commercial use license (for monetized videos) or personal use license (for non-monetized videos), for the relevant images.

All of the images on are registered copyright with the U.S. copyright office.
